It was a distinct honor to be invited to submit a design proposal for "PORCH : an Architecture of Generosity" as part of The 2025 United States Pavilion at the 19th International Architecture Biennale in Venice, Italy. While AGRISCULPTURE was not selected in the final round as one of the 54 Exhibitors representing the USA, it was a valuable experience putting together a submission that speaks of "the porch - that quintessentially constructed American place that is at once social, environmental, tectonic, performative, hospitable, generous and democratic."
The AGRISCULPTURE entry was entitled, "FREEBIRD'S PORCH : a STEAM Classroom on a NY Dairy Farm" and consisted of ten pages, of which page four on "Community Building" is displayed above. This project was completed in January 2025, and the brief narrative is as follows:
"Generosity comes not from the wallet, but from the heart. Welcome to FREEBIRD'S PORCH : a STEAM Classroom on a NY Dairy Farm where Freebird, Farmer and Harvey the trusty farm dog live, work and love. Delve into the Nature:Arts Workshops taught by Freebird, the food raised and grilled by Farmer and meet some new avian friends along the way. As a threshold space, a boundary is blurred between the indoors and outdoors, and worlds of teaching and learning collide. Elevated, engaged and elemental - you are welcome in person any time..."
A very special THANK YOU goes out to Heather Meijer-Carlsen, Sarah Fortner, David Pierson, Jena Argenta, Isabella Pizza, Douglas Sweetman, Harvey and Rascal. Without your beautiful generosity, FREEBIRD'S PORCH would have never been submitted to "PORCH : an Architecture of Generosity."
